FEATURES
The
AST 3225 Auto-Start Transfer Switch System, CSA/UL Approved, provides an automatic
transfer of an electrical load to a stand-by power supply in the event
of a drop, or loss of voltage, on any or all phases of the normal power
supply. Upon the restoration of normal power, the electrical load is
automatically re-transferred to the normal power supply. The base unit
comes complete with an ES-53 Controller, which starts the engine
automatically and provides the necessary timing functions. All time
delays are built into the ES-53, and are fixed to simplify installation,
start-up, and field servicing. Included are the following timers:
-
TDES
(Time Delay Engine Start): Adjustable from
0-32 seconds. This delay is necessary to prevent unnecessary engine
starts. This delay also doubles as a preheat timer utilizing
terminal 12 for diesel glow-plugs, if necessary.
-
TDNE
(Time Delay
Normal to Emergency): 4 seconds. This allows the engine to stabilize
before load transfer.
-
TDEN
(Time Delay
Emergency to Normal): 3 minutes. This allows a delay after the
utility returns, to ensure it has indeed returned and stabilized.
-
TDEC
(Time Delay
Engine Cool): 5 minutes. This allows the engine to continue running
for a set time after transfer of the load back to the utility, to
circulate coolant for a safe cool-down.
-
Engine
Exerciser:
Automatically starts the engine and runs it in the unloaded
condition for the desired exercise time
Included
also are "Safeties" which stop the engine when a condition of
"Low Oil Pressure", "High Coolant Temperature", or
"Overspeed" are sensed. The Engine Controller can read
generator output frequency, so that it is not necessary to install a
magnetic pick-up for a speed signal.
BENEFITS
With an
AST3225 Auto-Start Transfer Switch System, and any generator having
an electric starter, you can have a dependable stand-by power
system, that will automatically supply you with back-up power when
your primary power supply is lost. You can install an ES-53
Controller on your engine now, for remote start capability, and at a
later date, purchase the remainder of the system, at no increase in
total cost. Our removable connectors permit "PLUG AND RUN"
operation. The molded case switches have zero stand-by power draw,
unlike contactor based systems. The 225Amp rating enables handling
of full load to most residential and small commercial electrical
services; this enables stand-by power to be sent to any circuit in
the facility. With a "PONY PANEL" installation, only the
dedicated circuits can be powered when the utility is absent.
An
ideal power switching mechanism...
The
TM-225 transfer switch mechanism consists of a mechanical switching
assembly which can be configured to satisfy various application
requirements. It comes equipped with a transfer motor which utilizes
the power from the source to which the electrical load is being
transferred. The mechanism provides a positive mechanical interlock
to prevent both switches from being closed at the same time. The
TM-225 also incorporates motor control switches, terminal blocks,
and voltage sensing connection points. Provision is also made for
manual transfer of power source if necessary.
The TM225 mechanism is specifically designed to accommodate
customer-installed control systems. If you require a simple and
reliable switching mechanism, and you need the flexibility of
in-house controls, the TM225 is your perfect solution.
